Clean fish
To clean the fish, follow these steps:
Prepare the Equipment
Prepare a sharp knife, cutting board, basin, and clean water.
Remove Fish Scales
Use a knife or scale cleaning tool.
Scrape the scales from the tail towards the head slowly.
Do it under running water so that the scales don't scatter.
Clean the Gills
Open the head of the fish (if necessary).
Pull the gills with your hands or scissors to remove them.
Remove the Stomach
Make a small incision in the stomach of the fish, starting from under the head to near the tail.
Remove the stomach contents and clean the clotted blood along the spine.
Wash with Clean Water
Rinse the fish under running water to remove any remaining blood and dirt.
Gently rub the inside and outside of the fish to make sure it's clean.
Use Additional Ingredients (Optional)
If the fish has a strong fishy smell, soak it briefly in lime juice or vinegar, then rinse again.
Once the fish is clean, cook it immediately or store it in the refrigerator to maintain its freshness.
