PUNKS, DEBAUCHERY and SPILT BEER.... part 1
The Denver and Colorado Punk scene the last 15 years has been interesting to document. The ebb and flow as kids enter the scene and bring new thoughts and ideas. Watching them grow up and solidify their personalities or move out of the scene and move on in life. The deep love these young adults have for music. Sometimes singular in focus and inflexible. Sometimes leading to a greater understanding of music and talent over all. It is a hot bed for budding musicians and a fan base that is forgiving and tolerant of simple tunes and simple riffs as a band emerges. The overall music scene in Denver has been a hot bed of talent injecting the national scene with many different artists and styles. I have seen the music in the gutter (as it were).... Where this talent emerges from. The hole in the walls and basements where bands are created and talent enhansed... I hope you'll enjoy some of the photos I have taken over the years. I have a great love for the kids, many who are now adults. The scene which continues to morph and change dramatically. And those who support it as I have over the years....!
These photos are all from our first couple of nights shooting....
This is Anarchy Annie... She's a talented Classical Pianist that studied abroad. She is one of the first Punks we met and remain friends with her 15 years later. She talented. Beautiful. Smart as a whip and has been in many great bands over the years....
This photo is called THE SLAP. A full ROUND HOUSE, WHIPLASH, RED FINGERS ON CHEEK, SLAP.... Everyone in the lobby of The Ogden turned when it rang out....
This is Tilly. A bit of photoshopping to enhanse the photo. His bedroom.
This is Tony and a friend at The Adicts Concert in Aurora.
This is Lauren who caught a bloody nose while in the pit at The Adicts concert.
And then there is always spilt beer when you are around punks. Punks never let it go to waste....
And I'll leave you with this LAST IMAGE in this post. This I call "The Licker".... When you combine inebriation, punks and a camera. You get a bit of craziness you can never "unsee" again in your life....
