{Food Celebrity} Jive Turkey
This bird is smoked! There is nothing better than a succulent, smoked turkey. This is a far cry from the popular baked or fried turkey. I took this bad baby and soaked it in a brine for about 14 hours. Yea, if you brine it, it will take that long. This process helps to keep the turkey juicy. After bringing the turkey, go ahead and season it to your like. Now, I smoke most of my meat using cherry wood chips soaked in some bourbon. It normally takes anywhere from 3 to 4 hours of smoking time, depending on the size of your turkey
I smoked this this turkey using my handy-dandy electric smoker.........
I love this smoker. It get's the job done and doesn't even take up that much space. It is also very flexible and easy to transport and move around.
Now take a look at this "Jive Turkey" before it went into the smoker......
Do you see all of those cut-up vegetables and peppers stuffed in this turkey. Inside, there is also two chopped up links of andouille sausages to add a nice spice and flavor to it. The cut-up vegetables includes some celery, carrots, and onions which makes for a perfect stuffing medley that I just shove right up inside of it.
O.K.... now put your own twist to this classic recipe and share your thoughts and stay tuned for the next "Food Celebrity."
