I was a kid of 9 when it happened. Naturally I didn't get permission to participate on a school night. Nor did I get to go to Woodstock.
To answer your question, yes, it got us somewhere.
A whole lot has changed. And, for the better.
Those changes in the 60's and 70's were excruciatingly hard won, believe me. You see freedom of the 60's, but it was a really repressive time.
