Fantasy Waterfalls, New Zealand.
Being a photographer is all about being creative and trying different things. Different exposures, angles, editing, you name it. There are so many different ways you can try and be creative and put a unique spin on photographs, and today I wanted to share two of my own attempts at taking very overexposed shots of waterfalls.
In both of these shots the lens is also covered in water drops (and I use a totally un-weather-sealed camera...) and show how close I am to the waterfalls. Personally I really love both of these waterfall shots, over-exposed shots really attract me for some reason.
Both of these shots have had minimal editing, and this is pretty much how they came out of the camera. The colours on the camera were set to vivid, and as stated above, they were over exposed quite significantly.
Falls #1, Tawhai Falls (Gollums Pool).
What interests me the most about this picture is the sharpness of the rock in the bottom right corner. I believe the rock was shaded and this would explain why it looks so normal, but it provides such a stark contrast to the rest of the image.
Falls #2, Waitonga Falls.
In this image you can see the sky shining blindingly through the background, highlighting all of the droplets on the lens.
These falls are really cool because it isn't actually only one waterfall, but rather two! The first one alone is 39 metres tall!
I hope you all enjoyed checking out my attempts at taking 'different' types of photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them! Definitely something I will be doing more of when I get the time.
