DESERT TRIP: EPISODE 01
Hello everybody,
First things first:
A big THANK YOU to all my followers, all the nice comments, the resteems and the crazy amount of upvotes especially in my last post!
This really means a lot to me and, of course, is a great inspiration to keep posting and sharing my art here on Steemit.
Before sharing more of my artwork (and there's plenty of good stuff coming your way in the next weeks ;)) I came up with the idea of sharing some personal stuff, as well.
I call this little thing "DESERT TRIP" and I will post pictures of my private life in continuing episodes from time to time.
All photos are either taken by my talented wife Berrit (well, most of them) or me, while exploring the valley or walking our 3 Greyhounds through the streets.
All photos are originals, taken with our mobiles and show a little bit of our lives here in the desert of California.
We moved to Palm Springs in 2014 and have been living in the Coachella Valley full time over the last 3 years.
Coming from Germany where we were born and raised and lived over 30+ years this was the biggest change in our lives so far.
And we could tell pretty quickly when we experienced our very first summer being roasted with 126 Fahrenheit (which is 52,2 Celsius).
Palm Springs is a tiny town (in comparison to all the big cities like Los Angeles or New York). The population is a bit over 44000 people but this number doubles easily in the winter season when the so called "snow birds" are coming to town. These are people (lots of lovely Canadian folks) who spend their ice cold winters here in the desert for a good reason: the weather.
The temperature is warm and dry here even in December and you can walk with your flip flops through the streets while watching the snow capped mountains that surround the valley.
Palm Springs is THE mecca for everything midcentury modern.
From houses to furniture, fashion and design.
It is THE melting pot with some of the most iconic homes where movie stars and rockers spend their free time, with the Coachella Music Festival 20 minutes away from here.
It a crazy little town with a hundred stories but I don't want to give too much away in my first episode.
So here are some first impressions of our lives in the desert.
I hope you enjoy them.
Oh, and more art is coming your way very soon...
Cheers,
D

Great photos. I love the colours. Photography is one thing I'm so bad at. Hehe but that's alright... ;-)
Hey @jrej thanks!! I'm still learning photography everyday... my wife is the professional in this household and she's shooting most of the pictures... :)
