My brother caught a gator!

in #photography7 years ago

My brother and I really love fishing in the Hillsborough River, and if there is one downside to fishing there, it would have to be the high number of alligators.

It does seem like the number of gators we see has been diminishing from year to year at the Hillsborough River, but it would only take one bad encounter with a big gator to end your life. They typically don't mess with humans, but there was an alligator attack in the exact same place that my brother and I go fishing in the river.

In this particular instance, my brother was fishing with a weighted artificial worm. He cast near an alligator trying to just sink the bait beside him, but the alligator was very aggressive and it decided to bite his worm.

My brother tried to pull away the bait from the gator before it was too late, but he ended up hooking him. At that point he wanted to reel him in to help the gator by getting the hook out. It was a long process because the gator wasn't too happy about being hooked or pulled in next to the boat.

Check out the picture of the gator hissing at us:

We try a bit harder to stay away from the alligators now!

WOW! what type of bait do you use!?

Alligators are dark colored with a broad, rounded snout and are usually found in fresh water. Crocodiles are grayish-green and prefer coastal, brackish, and salt-water habitats. They have a narrow, tapered, triangular snout.
