Changing Seasons

in #photography7 years ago

After the long chaotic days of summer begin to come to a close and before the first snow, there's a time of stillness in the landscape of Alaska. The water has yet to freeze but the first signs of winter cap the tops of the mountains. I met Andy through Instagram and he decided to come and visit Alaska. I had an amazing time being able to show him around the state that I love. On this day we drove south to Girdwood and Portage. In Girdwood we traveled deep into the forest and explored the small waterfall tucked away behind the growth. After Girdwood we headed to Portage where we climbed high into the mountain pass. In the winter this area can be covered by as much as 16 feet of snow! At the top of the pass the landscape opens up and reveals Portage glacier in the distance. The Autumn sun reflected off the blue ice like a beacon of light. It was so great to see Andy's face as he was presented with such an amazing landscape. Less than a week in the state and he was already planning another trip here.

On our way back we stopped at reflection lake, appropriately named because of it's protected nature from the wind due to the massive mountain beside it. The changing season revealed itself in the form of bright orange and red colors in the trees. Each season in Alaska offers unique opportunities to explore. Some are more difficult than others but all are equally beautiful.

Hola @chaseburnett In a single word SPECTACULAR. What beautiful landscapes and beautiful photographs, a good adventure. One of these photos I saw on the internet, but I can not remember where I liked it and it was so imposing to be a person in that immensity of paradise, that is to say that person felt brave, in that loneliness. I tell you this, because the world is so small, that here I agreed without thinking to find the original source of the photo.
My congratulations.
Greetings and blessings.

Saludos y bendiciones.

Your photos are masterful...unbelievably so. The first perplexes my mind, it looks like the two skies separated by a floating celestial mountain. Your photography is immersive.
