Glass House by the River

When you live in a town for a long time, it's hard to see it change. You kinda want everything to be stay the same. I've lived in Brooklyn, NY all my life and the changes it has gone through (and is currently undergoing) is sometimes hard to process. Parts of Brooklyn have totally turned into a tourist attraction, other parts are an extension on Tribeca, Manhattan. It may sound like I wanna live in the past when it was under developed, but I'm enjoying my new surroundings.

Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass (DUMBO) has gone through a tremendous overhault. It has become one of the top places to.....do whatever. Relax, workout, site see, play soccer, or view art. Tons of artists have displayed their lastest creations along the river. One piece combines both art and play in the form of a carousel.

After seeing the carousel in a glass enclosure, along the jagged rocks, between the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridge, with the Manhattan skyline as a back drop, I had to take a picture.

Thanks for reading

Jane's Carousel

Built in 1922 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, the carousel was lovingly restored and donated to the park by Jane and David Walentas. Located in the Empire Fulton Ferry section of Brooklyn Bridge Park, Jane’s Carousel is housed in a gorgeous glass pavilion, designed by Pritzker-prize winning architect Jean Nouvel.

Been meaning to get to Brooklyn for a long time, now. Every time we come to NY, it's always Manhattan. Thanks for sharing this.
