Any Outlander fans out there?
You might recognise this place from Outlander (or Monty Python or Game of Thrones)
Doune Castle - Zorki 5 - Ilford XP2 400
This is Doune Castle near Stirling on the road to Callander and the Trossachs.
It's a cool we place to visit but it's a bit sparse compared to the other similar places nearby.
The castle is in pretty good condition considering it was built sometime in the 14th century and there's a lovely couple of walks around the grounds.
For some reason I don't seem to have any colour photos of this place. Always seem to visit it with a film camera or my Holga and clearly always with B&W film loaded.
I do wonder if increased visitor numbers is a good thing in the long run.
On one hand there will be more money from ticket sales - it's about £6 to get in here - while on the other the increased footfall will cause more wear and tear.
How do we or how should we look after and conserve interesting and curious buildings with a cultural or historical value but at the same time use them and enjoy them in our day to day lives?
