The Las Catedrales Beach is located on the coast of the province of Lugo (Galicia), also known as the Mariña Lucense.

The place where it is located belongs to the City Council of Ribadeo, bordering to the east with the Principality of Asturias and to the West with the City Council of Barreiros.

In addition to this beautiful beach in the area there are plenty of places to visit, so if you are thinking of spending a few days away from home without spending a lot of money, you may have found the key. The hotel offer is quite generous, but on certain dates (Easter, Christmas, summer ...) it can be difficult to find a bed. Therefore, we invite you to review our accommodation section where, with our advice, we hope to help you choose a good hotel or apartment.

BEACH OF THE CATHEDRALS

In the area there are endless beaches of fine white sand and usually moderate waves, which deserve to be visited, among which stands out above all the Beach of Augas Santas, popularly known as the Beach of the Cathedrals, name that takes by the similarity that their rock formations have with the flying buttresses of the Gothic cathedrals.

Along with other beaches in the area, such as Esteiro, Os Castros or Illas, make up the area of the Cathedrals, listed as a Site of Community Interest (L.I.C.) in the Natura 2000 Network, for its animal and plant wealth.

The main attraction of the beach is the set of rock arches sculpted by the force of the Cantabrian Sea over the years, which would leave the most traveled with their mouths open.

The size of these arches, also known as "ollos", reaches in some cases more than 30 meters high and can be seen walking along the beach at low tide.

You can even go under them and hear how the sound of the waves becomes more original, if possible, by bouncing off the natural rock formations.
