A trip to the city of Tobolsk
Located in the north of the Tyumen region, at the confluence of the Tobol River in the Irtysh.
Founded in 1587 as a center for the development of Siberia. In 1590 Tobolsk was the first in Siberia to receive city status. From the end of the XVI to the XVIII century - the main military, administrative, political and church center of Siberia. Since 1708 - the city, the center of the Siberian province, stretching from the Urals to the Pacific Ocean. In the XIX century, due to the movement of trade routes, and then the construction of the railway (away from the city), the economic importance of Tobolsk fell. Currently, Tobolsk is the most important center of educational tourism in Siberia and a major industrial center of the country in the field of gas chemistry.
