A Bright Bloom with Healing Powers
Despite the name, Pot Marigold isn't a true marigold (those belong to the Tagetes genus). Instead, Pot Marigold is part of the Calendula genus and has been cultivated for centuries for both ornamental and medicinal use. Native to Southern Europe and parts of the Mediterranean, this annual flower thrives in temperate climates and blooms over a long period—from early summer until the first frost.
Pot Marigolds are loved for their daisy-like appearance and warm color palette. They grow to about 12–24 inches tall and do well in flower beds, borders, pots, and even as a companion plant in vegetable gardens. Not only do they attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, but they can also deter some pests, making them a gardener’s ally.
Pot Marigold is not just ornamental—it’s a powerhouse in herbal medicine and natural skincare. The petals are rich in flavonoids and antioxidants, offering anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.
