The paradox of Rome
Rome is certainly one of the most beautiful cities of the world. Thanks to its glorious history you can still find today a huge amount of architectural masterworks, which attracted in 2017, 11 million tourists.
But as you can see from the picture, I took a few months ago, right next to probably the most impressive and important monument, the riverside is completely abandoned and wild plants are growing from quite a long time (as their size suggests).
For me this picture describes perfectly the paradox of the city. It goes on living pretending that the monuments the history left could solve the problems (and save the economy) and thus that there is no need to take care and improve the city.
