Each time I return to the Thai capital, it seems one more giant shopping mall has sprung up on the skyline. On my last visit in 2016, I stumbled across the EmQuartier shopping mall. Sitting opposite the older Emporium shopping centre on the Sukhumvit road and attached to the Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain station, EmQuartier is another cathedral of commerce in downtown Bangkok, reinforcing the city’s status as a shopaholics paradise.
Not being much of a shopper myself, places like this don’t usually interest me. But for photographers, there is one reason to visit EmQurtier, and that’s the view. It's a high rise building, and there are several points within the mall where you can get a great view of the city skyline. There’s even an open-air garden and terrace on the fifth floor, that’s an enjoyable place to watch the sunset. If you're in Bangkok and you’re looking to take a cityscape photo, this mall’s worth a look.
