Alright! After a relaxing day of doing not that much and a short hike, it was time for some action on day 5! We booked a rafting tour. And okay, a massage afterwards O:) Because it sounded like a good combo.

Since it's not monsoon season the rafting was supposed to be pretty calm. But I looked forward to being on the water and enjoying the scenery. We got a ride from the B&B to the rafting company. There we got grouped with our guide and some Indonesian tourists (which was quite special because most tourists weren't from Indonesia). Our guide was really funny and we learned some basic commandos. Our favourite was 'boom boom', which meant that we had to sit down on the bottom of the boat because a large descent was coming. Then we got in the back of an open van and rode to the river. From there it was quite a long hike down a lot of stairs to actually reach the river Ayung. But then it was finally time to hit the water! The ride was nice and the water wasn't too cold. Sadly, our guide only gave the 'boom boom' commando once :P

We didn't have a waterproof camera with us so we didn't take a lot of shots on the river. The view was really great. The river wasn't super wide and sometimes there were rock walls on both sides, sometimes it was pretty flat with rice paddies. There were a few small waterfalls. There was a beautiful hotel garden along the river at one point. But the best part was the stone carvings we came across. We made a stop to take a closer look.

Our rafting companions :) Really nice people:

Luckily the water level was pretty low, so most of the carvings were visible.

Action shots were made along the way:

After the ride, and again a lot of stairs, we returned to the rafting company where we could shower and change. Lunch was included and it was simple but good. Afterwards we got a ride to the spa where we had an amazing massage. We got dropped off in the centre of Ubud where we saw a Balinese show. It was hard to get a good shot because it was super super crowded.

The music they play during the show is kind of mysterious. The dancers step around in their costumes and wiggle their elongated fingers. It's really something else if you're not from Bali. Pretty cool.

After dinner we went back to the B&B and made plans for the days to come :)

Stay tuned @best-pomchi-ever to enjoy the rest of our journey across the island.

See you soon!
