Photographs from the bakery: "Fermented" philosophical aphorisms

Most people will go through life in a constant "awake" mode with no thoughts about this state of being "awake". Taking a step back, looking at yourself from a distance, to suspend this awakened state for a brief moment, will show you a different perspective on the same, placing it in such a new light that the same old becomes a new experience.

Hypocritical is those who do not think before they talk. It is those of old Greek heritage that said those who have nothing to say, talk, those who have the most to say, never say a word but listen. Think before you talk, maybe you have nothing to say.

Socrates once said he wished wisdom to be like water flowing over a full cup into those which are empty. An African philosopher said once that even when a child climbs to the height of a tree, he won't have the wisdom of the old man sitting. What should we make of this in our current day and age, where knowledge has replaced wisdom, where Google has become the new old? Will we ever see wise people again?

If wisdom comes to those of age, can we not say that they have fermented and aged well? The old man is like a good bottle of wine, fermented for a while, but ages with each moment that passes. We should be like the old man: ferment when we are young but age when we get older.
