The Analogy of Life to Music

in #philosophy8 years ago (edited)

As I sat one day playing the piano I had an idea. What if we were a note in a celestial orchestra going on in the universe?

When you hit a key on the piano you get a sound. Nothing more, nothing less. This note has no emotions. However when played together with three specific keys, which moments earlier were nothing more than individual sounds and you get what is called a "chord". This chord sounds pleasant yet represents only a longer "moment in time". Combine several of these "moments in time" and you set the basis for a song, the framework for a melody. You add more individual notes to create your melody that when combined with your chords and you have yourself a song. The song now HAS emotion and depending on your choice of notes, chords and tempo (speed of music) you can make your song embody any emotion you desire.

Now at this point, I must state that in order for this analogy to work I assume that you agree that there are frequencies and sounds that exist which our human ears cannot detect. Such as the whistle dogs can hear which we cannot.

Consider this: The Universe plays a note sooooooo deep we are COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS that it exists at all. This is the note all life shares. Each galaxy in turn has its own note which is a higher note than that of the universe yet still so low that we are oblivious of its existence. Each solar system, star, and planet has a note that progressively moves up the keys in the piano getting ever closer to the range of our human ears. Eventually you reach our Sun which begins to reach the range of our human ears which requires speeding up in order to hear it. At this point the notes from the Universe, galaxies, solar systems and everything in between have created chords that beyond our ears and are in perfect harmony with one another.

The Earth plays the last note in the last chord before we ourselves contribute a note. Every emotion we have sends out a vibrations, a frequency and a sound that others may not hear, but can feel. Consider this when you enter a room of people where the air "feels" heavy. Individually, we create notes that when played collectively generate the key our civilization contributes to the celestial song.

At this moment in time, we are so off key that we are not in harmony with the chords of the universe. In fact, we as a species are currently that string that is out-of-tune with the rest of the piano that makes that awful sound when played.
But our times are changing and we are entering a time where we finally get our fine tuning.

When you are good to each other, respect each other, appreciate each other and in general have a positive outlook in life we ensure the celestial song is a "canon and gigue". When we hate each other, and generate other negative emotions we also create a note which only ensures the celestial song is a "funeral march".

This same concept applies when you consider that within our bodies is a universe. We are the culmination of so many intricate notes that hold our body together. All these notes joined together create us. One can thus argue that we are a song in our own right and like any song, we have a start, middle and inevitable end. Whether or not we are a happy song or a sad song is completely up to us as we generate the notes through our emotions which in turn affect our daily decisions which in turn shape the course of our lives.
