#57 - A Truth of Life - Less is More
Living a minimalist life is a good life. You have heard the saying "less is more" well it is something I have found to be very true and; desiring less is even more valuable than owning less.
“The process of living seems to consist in coming to realize truths so
ancient and simple that, if stated, they sound like barren platitudes.”
C.S. Lewis
Owning less has some phenomenally practical benefits for our lives. It costs less. It requires less energy and time to maintain. It brings freedom, rest, peace and calm into an otherwise hectic world. It provides greater opportunity to pursue our passions or purpose. Over the years, I have found the desire to own less is even more valuable than owning less.
Over time, I have been able to remove myself from the incessant desire for more in a society that idolises consumerism at every hand's turn. When our life’s desire shifts away from pursuing physical possessions, we are finally free to pursue lasting worth with all our heart. Investing in yourself, in your mind, in your body and in your spirit. These are the things what will change your life for the better, not all the materialistic things, which you buy to impress people you don't like and who don't like you.
Keep it simple, keep the clutter to a mininium, keep your life and time to yourself and the people that matter.
This post was exactly what I needed to read right now. Thanks for your effort and for reminding me what's important.
