📷: Sanuk goes to Manila Ocean Park Part 3
Last October, someone came to the office to sell discounted tickets for a trip to the Manila Ocean Park. Since I haven’t tried this oceanarium yet, I decided to take advantage of this ticket sale.
The Manila Ocean Park is an oceanarium in Manila, Philippines. It is owned by China Oceanis Philippines Inc., a subsidiary of China Oceanis Inc., a Singaporean-registered firm. It is located behind the Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park
It opened way back March 2008.
So I got this ticket which includes:
-Oceanarium
-Sharks and Rays Dry Encounter
-Sea Lion Show
-Jellies Exhibit
-Creepy Crawlies
-Symphony Evening Show

Third Stop: Sharks and Rays Dry Encounter
Sharks are one of the animals the rules the ocean, they are deadly predators.
You should be scared if you've watched a lot of Jaws or Sharknado movie in your life.
According to the International Shark Attack File, the Tiger shark ranks No. 2 behind the white shark in the number of reported attacks on humans. Surfers and swimmers need to know that Tiger sharks tend to be both curious and aggressive when they spot humans in the water.
Are manta rays and stingrays the same thing?
Manta ray versus Stingray. Manta rays are related to stingrays. Both have flattened body shapes and wide pectoral fins that are fused to the head. One of the biggest differences between manta rays and stingrays is that manta rays do NOT have a tail "stinger" or barb like stingrays.
Here are some of my photos taken in this Shark and Rays (not so) Dry Encounter
In this, you will be able to touch the rays, while the trainer is holding them. I was able to touch it.
Their skin is smooth and touching them will not hurt you or the rays.
There's also a shark in this pool, but it rests at the bottom. I wasn't able to take a photo. :(
Now these are some photos of the Rays inside the Oceanarium.
And here are the Sharks:
Sharks Must Swim Constantly or They Die! Some sharks must swim constantly in order to keep oxygen-rich water flowing over their gills, but others are able to pass water through their respiratory system by a pumping motion of their pharynx. This allows them to rest on the sea floor and still breathe.
This explains why in the picture, most of them are resting in the bottom. I thought they're turned off or deactivated or something. LOL
