It's Good to Always Be Prepared [#EARTHQUAKE DRILL]
It is said that Proper Preparation and Planning Prevent Piss-Poor Performance.(7Ps)-Garth Ennis
This is very much true. In order for us not to be faced in a bad situation, we should always be prepared in our lives.
While earthquakes can never be predicted, being prepared spells the difference for the safety of our students and teachers.
San Miguel Central School was lucky enough to have the BFP Unit (Bureau of Fire Protection Unit) last Friday to conduct a lecture and hands-on demonstration for Teachers during an Earthquake.
The activity started with a lecture on what to do before, during and after earthquake. Followed by an earthquake drill. All teachers and staff were asked to participate.
Then, a demonstration on how to attend and help injured people were shown.
IMPORTANCE OF EARTHQUAKE DRILL:
For us in education sector, it is best to be prepared and ready for all eventualities, because no one can predict when earthquakes will happen. Schools cannot be closed in advance due to earthquakes; neither can we suspend classes, like we do when there’s a storm warning. However, with proper training and advance planning, everyone in our school community can be prepared to react appropriately during and after the occurrence of an earthquake.
Likewise, planning of specific ways on how our school community will respond to an earthquake will help us identify key resources that must be prepared or procured in advance. Proper execution of school drills will also help prevent panic, which might lead to accidents when everyone is overwhelmed with fear during a strong earthquake.
