Ang Pagpapabuwis ay Pagnanakaw (Taxation is Theft)
It's something that anarcho-capitalists and voluntaryists such as myself have recognized for a long time. Taxation is theft. Yes. That's right. Ang pagpapabuwis ay pagnanakaw.
Whenever we say it, someone inevitably asks, "But without taxation, who would build the roads?" The answer, of course, is that lots of people would. The free market would build the roads, and it would do so better than government does.
The phrase is on numerous memes, t-shirts, and coffee mugs, but as far as I know, the meme above is the only one that says it in Filipino. However, many freedom-minded Filipinos recognize that taxation is theft, and they're growing in number. That's encouraging.
A few friends in Metro Manila even listen to The Tom Woods show--one of my favorite podcasts. They appreciate the writings of such freedom-loving thinkers as Hans-Hermann Hoppe and the late Murray Rothbard. That's very encouraging, especially in light of all of the statism that prevails here in the Philippines.
May many, many more Filipinos recognize, admit, and accept it: Ang pagpapabuwis ay pagnanakaw. It isn't voluntary. It's theft. And it needs to be done away with.
