My Decentralized Lifestyle (Nightlife, Dating, Food and Culture in the Philippines)

in #philippines7 years ago (edited)

As the title suggests, I may be into cryptocurrency and the whole blockchain development. I am entirely behind the technology and its utility and believe it to change everything we know of today sooner than we think.

But this post is not really about "crypto". It does have intentional correlation with the philosophy behind blockchains' decentralization.

The purpose of this post is to simply introduce myself to the steemit community and to share my experiences and thoughts about the concept I refer to as "My Decentralized Lifestyle" here in the Philippines. I'll also try and outline the type of content we will be producing to give you an idea of what to expect in future posts.

Decentralized Lifestyle

Our lifestyle is how we live our lives. I see it as our currency and we decide how we spend it.

To loosely describe Decentralized Lifestyle, it represents a lifestyle free from external influence or control. Whether it be from an employer, institutions, religion, financial circumstances, media or even pressures from family and friends. Because one way or another, our decisions are often determined or at least influenced by one or more of these external "powers". I say "powers" because they impose some level of control over our lives and how we live it.

Instead, I choose to give myself the decision making power to do what I want, how I want and when I want. This also means that I assume full responsibility and accountability for the consequences of my decisions and actions. I'll write more about this in later posts for those interested in the deep stuff. LOL!

A little background

I should note that this is my first EVER blog post... EVER... as in first blog post anywhere on the internet. But what better platform to start on don't you think?

About 4 years ago, I decided to retire from the workforce in Sydney, Australia to come and live in the Philippines where I was born. I had been working professionally in Australia in the Design and IT space for over 15 years and had lived there since my family migrated when I was only 5 years old.

Before deciding to move here, I had travelled around Asia on a regular basis and soon realized that this was where I wanted to be. This is the life that I wanted to live.

So... long story short, up until now I've had some wild roller coster rides of experiences. A lot of ups and certainly a hell lot of downs! But its all part of what makes it so exiting. I've learnt so much about people and even more about myself. Much of these experiences I realized would be invaluable to others just starting out their adventures in Asia and we saw an opportunity to use this platform in sharing those experiences with you.

What to expect from our content

During my time here, I've been fortunate enough to have met people who share the same passion with similar experiences living in the Philippines and Asia as a whole. Two in particular have since become good friends and partners in crime, Tyler and Anton. We are currently based in Cebu City, Philippines. The three of us will produce content on a regular basis detailing our wins and challenges and the many lessons we've learnt along the way exploring this jungle of beauty and chaos. The subject matter of our posts will vary immensely covering topics such as:

  • Tourist destinations and hidden spots
  • Nightlife
  • Dating (online/offline, advice and coaching)
  • Cost of living
  • Food and culture
  • Transport
  • Health and fitness
  • Decentralized lifestyle
  • Business and Investing in the Philippines
  • Cryptocurrency in Asia
  • Reviews of restaurants, hotels and activities
  • Interviews with locals and expats about current issues
  • Day to day experiences
  • and of course Dating (yes it was already listed above... intentional lol)

We encourage you to join us on this exciting journey and hope that you will find some valuable information to help you with your travels or your decision to move to the Philippines. Hahaha!

In Conclusion

Whether you choose Philippines or any part of the world, I believe our lifestyle is our life's currency... and we should have full control over how we spend it.

Enjoy!
