How to get free woodcips for organic groundcover in your organic "Back to Eden" garden
What is organic "Back to Eden Gardening"
The Back to Eden Gardening Methode is where you use woodchips as a groundcover to simulate the system that nature itself uses in a forest.
Some benefits are:
- Less water required.
- Less weeding required.
- Less soil erotion.
- More soil life.
- Adds organic matter and compost tea to the soil.
If you are new to the "Back to Eden Gardening Methode" you can watch the beautiful film by Paul Gautschi here:
How to get started and get free woodchips
There are several ways to get free woodchips
Some gardening companies deliver truckloads for free.
Get it from asking permission from the workers whenever I spot a pile along the road and bring it to my homestead in bags.
Here is a little film we made about how to gather woodchips from when we gathered woodchips in bags for use here on our small homestead:

I hope you found this useful and I wish you good luck in your organic garden :)
Woodchips are soo good for so many things. One I learned about is how to grow Wine Cap Mushrooms/ Garden Giant. which can be used to help the veggies you are growing through their symbiotic relationship. You can even grow them out so you can multiple them x10 each time. Check out the video below! @ecoknowme
Awesome. You can also grow some mushrooms in coffe grouts. There are even kits that you can order online here to get started with oyster mushrooms etc... http://www.softfuture.farm/2016/03/21/grow-organic-mushrooms-home/
I do use coffee grounds for growing oyster mushrooms, but I must admit, after that, I tend to not have as much luck in the next part of getting them to fruit, preferably on another substrate. Thanks for the link! I'll check it out. @ecoknowme
Excellent post my friend. I have only recently learned the joys of mulch.
