#1 - Wooden Pencils

Yes, those pencils. Every elementary school student used this pencil. If you haven't, you're not human! This pencil works best for young children learning to write simple sentences, as it is easy to add pencil grips, eraser toppers, and other add-ons. You can find these simple yellow pencils literally everywhere. I recommend Mongol brand pencils and Ticonderoga brand pencils as they are hard to break and have good, strong lead.

Good for:

  • Students
  • Learning
  • Exams
  • Basic drawing

#2 - Mechanical Pencils

There are many types of mechanical pencils, and you may remember using these at school or at work. Normally these pencils are better for older students as they tend to need regular led refills that break quite easily. You can choose from different lead sizes though, and lead diametre can go from 0.3 mm to 0.9 mm normally. There are larger and smaller sizes, but most pencils are in between that range. The most common diametre is 0.7 mm. I recommend BIC brand mechanical pencils, because they are the most common and hard to break. They use 0.7 mm lead and 0.9 mm lead.

Good for:

  • Older students
  • Work
  • Filling out forms
  • Taking notes

#3 - Ballpoint Pens

I know this doesn't really count as a pencil, but ballpoint pens are a really good writing utensil for school, work, and filling out forms. This pens comes in many colours, but commonly in red, blue, and black. People use red pens for grading and checking, but use blue and black for daily writing. Writing in pen can make your work seem professional, but write carefully, you can't erase pen!

Good for:

  • Forms
  • Students (If the teacher allows it)
  • College students
  • Teachers
