Peercoin ROADMAP -- Peercoin created 2012 as a solution to Bitcoin's scalability problems
Want to see the roadmap for Peercoin? What does the roadmap say? Every coin has a roadmap...
A published roadmap of a coin basically tells you:
-- the future direction for development
-- what new planned features will be released, and when
-- What the developers promise will happen
So of course roadmaps are accepted by the public as being valuable signs of the potential of any new coin, or ICO. You need roadmaps.
EXCEPT HERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH ROADMAPS
-- Every scam coin born into existence, and that failed in the last 5 years had a roadmap.
-- Roadmaps sound great, but they are just as popular as politician promises when they campaign before they get into office
-- Roadmaps actually mean nothing long term. You'll constantly be told why certain features are delayed or not able to be produced on a roadmap as scheduled.
So why does everyone care about a roadmap?
....because, when you ICO or invest in a new coin, all you get is the roadmap. Of course it is valuable. It is a possible chart of future promises that might come true.
....roadmaps can be pointed to in troll boxes, say "buy this coin" because "look at the roadmap"
....roadmaps give an artificial reason why an ICO or a new coin might be worth mining or investing in...
Roadmaps are useless. Performance and history is important.
Peercoin, this month, has 5 years of stable history. Peercoin's community continually talks about what features are being developed, and proof of those developments can be found.
Does Peercoin need a superficial roadmap like most coins? OF COURSE NO....
A roadmap isn't worth the paper it is printed on... and in crypto currency, there is no paper. It's just fluff for the masses to buy into... roadmaps mean very little as history has taught us.
So if you're curious about what Peercoin's roadmap is... just join an account up at talk.peercoin.net and get engaged with the community and the developers. You will find out all you need about what is happening with Peercoin and what development is going on (without a roadmap).
Last Question:
If most fake coins post a roadmap anyway, wouldn't it be good of Peercoin to post a roadmap too?
-- No, because Peercoin isn't a scam coin, a fake coin, and no roadmap is needed.
Good article ppcman and I agree! I've heard it said before that public roadmaps are for shitcoins. Peercoin does have a roadmap, although we don't publicize it like other projects do. It remains an internal roadmap. We do publish some things that we are currently working on here, but we don't put out our plans for the future too early.
Sometimes the best solution for a problem is not known until later, so it would be setting false expectations to reveal things too early. For example, the idea for PeerAssets was originally put forward by mably, but then peerchemist completely revamped the idea later and made it into something much better. Sometimes an idea needs time to mature and take shape before it is ready to be made public.
Besides preventing false expectations, it also makes our team more unpredictable, so that competition can't know in advance everything that we're planning and working on. It works this way in the real world as well. Businesses don't broadcast all their plans for the future. They keep them close to the vest in order to maintain a competitive advantage, and then reveal everything later when the time is right.
Public roadmaps are like the guy at the bar with low self-esteem that feels he needs to read off a whole list of his accomplishments to a girl in order to show off how awesome he is, so he can get her attention and score a phone number. Peercoin is not desperate like this. Peercoin is like the confident guy at the bar that already knows how great a catch he is, and doesn't feel the need to desperately broadcast it to everyone he meets. In other words, we are interested in developing things the right way and will reveal them to people only when we feel we're ready to showcase something.
Very good article. I was about to post a similair post. Estate or plastic cups, people should always do their research. due to the anonymity behind coins even more so. I found this amazing platform: https://www.coincheckup.com I don't know any other site that gives such good inisghts in the team, the product, advisors, community, the business and the business model, etc. See: https://www.coincheckup.com/coins/Peercoin#analysis To check Peercoin Indepth analysis
