Peace that is beyond human understanding
Yesterday, being Sunday, I woke up with a heavy heart. I was thinking about a lot of things, including past mistakes and decisions I have to make. I just felt like running away from all that bothered me but that of course wasn't possible. I was just carrying all these in my mind, even up until noon and sometimes I felt like almost crying (you know those times when you want to cry but you tell yourself, no, you can't cry naw). All I could ask God was to help me, give me peace, that's all I was saying.
Somehow, God heard me. In the afternoon, still with all these in my heart, I decided to write down what exactly was giving me so much worry, maybe if I analyze it properly, it won't be so bad and probably I can bring up reasonable solutions (that was the logical side of me speaking). So I started typing it all on my phone. Still writing, the Holy Spirit started speaking to me, it became more like a conversation but on a paper (in this case see, on my phone). He let me know a lot of things and I was assured of who God is and His promises to me. Immediately, I felt so much better. Like I had no care in the world, I was uplifted, it felt so good, still does.
Later in the night, I remembered a scripture. Phillipians 4: 6 - 7.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
I started thinking of verse 7. "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus". KJV puts it this way "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus". Good News Bible (GNB) even explains it so well "And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus."
There's a peace God gives. It transcends, passes, is beyond all understanding.
It's the kind of peace you have when all is not well with you, but you are calm, like everything is OK.
It's the kind of peace you have when it looks like you are in trouble, but you are just calm, unburdened.
It's the kind of peace those who were persecuted or threatened had that made them keep on doing God's work.
It's the kind of peace only God gives.
No one understands it, you might not even understand it yourself, but it's there. Peace.
That peace is available, you just got to ask God.
