Personally I think we've just got used to the 24 hours and had it started out as 7 days we'd have no problem with it. It would mean curators don't have to be online every day to maximise the use of their votes.
My main issue with it however is the fixed period. I see no reason to remove what we have to protect us from last minute votes. The payout could easily range from 5-7 days.
We'll always be more used to what we're used to. I'm usually in favour of more change and experimenting not less. But in this case, if we had started with a 7 day payout I can almost guarantee that I would be in favour of changing it to 24 hours now.
It might make things a little easier for curators to maximize their votes... But for me that doesn't outweigh all the advantage of a 24 hour payout period.
I'm willing to be convinced... just haven't been yet.
