Have you made donuts? Tell us about your experience.

You might think that making doughnuts at home would be a simple task, especially with all the recipes available online. But after countless attempts and some rather disappointing results, I can confidently say that achieving that perfect doughnut isn’t just about following a recipe; it’s an art form... So grab your apron and let’s dive into why homemade doughnuts can sometimes miss the mark and how we can work to make them better.

Another challenge is mastering the frying technique. Achieving that perfect crispy exterior without overcooking or undercooking can feel like walking a tightrope. And don’t even get me started on glazing! Finding the right balance between sweet and sticky without overwhelming the delicate flavor of the doughnut itself is an art.

My kids may love home-made doughnuts for a day or two, but they quickly tire of them if they don’t match up to those store-bought delights.

Which are your favorites, glazed, sugared or filled?

I like sugar-coated donuts the most. I also like donuts with small candies. Children like chocolate-coated donuts because they like chocolate. I also used to love chocolate when I was a child, but now I don't like chocolate. I don't know what it is, so I don't like chocolate-coated donuts.

Step1 :

Take a glass of warm milk in a glass bowl, add one and a half spoons of yeast to it and mix it with two spoons of sugar. After mixing the sugar and yeast with the milk well, cover the bowl and keep it for 15 minutes.

Step2 :

After 15 minutes, when you see that the yeast has activated with the milk and is full, take it and add three glasses of flour, that is, three times more flour than the amount of milk you took. Then break an egg and pour it in. Add 70 grams of butter to it and add a quarter teaspoon of salt to it and knead.

Step3 :

Apply the kneaded dough to me and keep it covered for three hours. When the dough is covered, it will gather and look bigger. Then take it out and place it on a chapati rolling table and roll it to half an inch thickness.

Step 4 :

Take a three-inch diameter mold or cylinder-shaped container and cut it into a circle with the help of the container. Similarly, cut a circle in the middle with a diameter of half an inch.

Step 8 :

Now break the chocolates into small pieces in a bowl. Place the bowl in hot water and keep the bowl afloat so that the water does not enter it. Mix the chocolates in it. The chocolates will melt and turn into a liquid paste. Then add a little hot milk and mix.

Did you have any difficulty making your donuts?

One major hurdle I’ve encountered while trying to create my own doughnuts is consistency. Let’s face it: some days my dough rises beautifully, while other days it falls flat literally! The temperature and humidity in your kitchen can drastically affect yeast-based recipes, leading to unpredictable outcomes.

Similarly, when you fry the kneaded dough in hot oil, the inside doesn't cook well. If you try to cook and boil it too much, the outside gets burnt.

The right amount of yeast must be added to the kneaded dough; otherwise, no matter how round we cut the doughnut, its shape will keep changing as yeast rises.

Do you have any special tips for making donuts? Share it.

Donuts are one of the most favorite foods for children. It is not good to give them these foods that we buy from restaurants or stores because a lot of chemicals are added to them to keep them from spoiling and preserve them longlasting. Therefore, it is harmful to the stomach and health of children. Therefore, even though the taste is not good, making them at home and giving them will satisfy their cravings, and at the same time they will be healthy.
