#freewriting - The unwanted, wild cat
A cougar is a grey/brown wild cat also known as a puma.
While writing this it reminds me at the post I read this morning (I had to translate it as well and still I am confused about the last part see @larryparra, see HERE.
No matter if it is a cat, a puma, a kitten or black cat or it's behaviour, these words always seem to be used for women.
Seldom it is ment in a positive way and by now you hardly dare to use the word (the word "bitch" is a good example as well).
It is clear we do live in a men's world.
Men rule, set the rules, laws and punishments. They measure different if it comes to what is considered as normal behaviour for a man or woman.
An old man with a woman that could be his (grand)daughter is seen as normal (he is not a pedophile or dirty old man).
Fact is he does like to see something young and pretty at his side, to show this way he is still alive and attractive. Hopefully he even gets her love and attention. If he is lucky he has a free nurse for life. Not only men, but also many women accept this for normal behaviour. The other way round we do not find appropriate.
An elderly woman is always ugly.
She had her time and should hide herself instead of showing herself. She is seen as useless. Not able having babies, not worth looking at with her rinkles. We love to make "jokes" about her if she does take care of herself to look younger, but also if she doesn't. In very less societies elderly people are associated with life experiences, wisdom and are shown the respect they deserve.
It is scientifically proved higher educated women are more frequently single.
The reasons why are clear. Generally speaking a higher educated woman can take care of herself. She feels less need to pamper a guy, more need to pamper herself.
Many men do not like women who are higher educated as they are (reminds me of an uncle who always asked: "Who is the king", and expected all of us to answer: "Uncle Jan is the king".).
Slang for and elderly woman looking for a young, vital man (for sex) is cougar.
So she is called after a strong puma, who can take care of herself, will not give up easily and has plenty of self esteem.
No female animal in the world would choose an old, impotent male for a partner. Each specie will go for young, healthy and strong. So why on earth would a woman do so? What is the attraction here?
Women attracted by younger men many people do find disgusting (yes women too). I wonder why.
Because they:
- know by now what they want and stand for?
- are able to be attractive and have fun instead of hiding and feel miserable because they are useless and dumped for a younger and more stupid version?
- are not willing to take care of a way older, unattractive man? (Most men are for sure not getting more attractive if they get older, it's a myth only they believe. Come over here and have a look at my male neighbours. Not attractive at all. Not by looks and surely not by behaviour. One over 70 year old neighbour is always peeping, walking around naked, shitting in the garden of neighbours.Always drunk and living in a dump. Does that sound attractive to you? Still he thinks he is a great catch and looks better as Adonis himself.)
My granny became a widow at young age.
She was high educated, spoke several languages and survived the Japanese concentration camp. She never remarried. As I asked her why she said: I have a great life, no financial problems. Why would I marry an old guy, nurse him as he prepares my money?
"Keeping up appearances": Onslow is always the one with a headache, but knows a lot. You would not say so if you see him do you? This is my entry at the daily #5-minute-freewrite with the prompt cougar. If you like to join see @mariannewest and @freewritehouse
