Tea cultivation in Panchagarh in the northern part of the country has opened a new horizon in the economic development of the country. The once fallow pastures and the most underdeveloped districts of the country are now full of green tea leaves. Creating eye-catching natural beauty. Panchagarh tea has entered the international market, including the domestic market. Organic tea is being sold at the Harrod Auction Market in London. Exports are to Dubai, Japan and America. The target for tea production has been set at 6 lakh kg. With the adoption of the Tea Board's 'Strategic Development Pan for Tea Industry of Bangladesh Vision-2021' project, interest in tea production has increased among the farmers here.
The distance from Tentulia to Darjeeling is 50 kilometers. And the production here is the best tea in the world. In 1996, the then and present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Panchagarh and talked about the possibility of tea cultivation. Then the deputy commissioner said. Tea was cultivated experimentally under the supervision of Rabiul Hossain. Tea is cultivated first in the tub and later in the land. From that success, tea was produced on a commercial basis in Panchagarh. In 2000, several companies, including Tentulia Tea Company and Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate, started cultivating tea. Within a few years, the vast cattle pastures of Tentulia upazila were filled with green tea leaves

The creation is a green ceremony. Local small tea growers come forward with the advice and technical assistance of the Tea Board. Besides garden owners, they also cultivate tea. The revolution of tea cultivation took place silently in Panchagarh. According to the Panchagarh Tea Board Regional Office, at present, 18,000 acres of land in the district is suitable for tea cultivation. So far, tea cultivation has been expanded to 2,255.55 acres of land. Tea is cultivated by 162 small growers with the land below 5 acres, 11 smallholders between 5 and 20 acres, and 19 estates above 20 acres. These tea gardens have employed about 1,500 men and women. In the past, male workers used to lift stones, and female workers made a living by breaking stones. Now women are lifting two leaves a bud with their tender hands. Especially in the lives of poor and deprived women, two handfuls of rice a day has ensured. The specialty of tea cultivation in this area is that the farmers are setting up small tea gardens, which plays an important role in improving a lot of marginal farmers. As tea is cultivated in the district, 9 monthly income path has been created for the farmers. There has been the employment of local unemployed youth. Land prices have risen several times. Small businesses have sprung up around the gardens. Besides, tourists come from different parts of the country to visit the tea gardens. As a result, the image of the district has changed several times as compared to the last few years.
