RE: Time to call a duck, a duck.
I do not excuse anyone for committing violence. No jargon required. Call me any names you want ;)
I think you will find plenty of evidence of fascist groups attacking people, so it goes both ways and should not be considered acceptable by anyone.
Who was the president who said he admires someone who can bodyslam a journalist and gets his crowds riled up against any (non-Fox) journalists at his rallies. It's easy to find some 'liberal' (by whatever definition) celebrities who get into fights, but I can empathise a bit when the press hounds you all the time. Nobody is perfect and they should be punished for it. The most powerful man on earth needs to pick his words very carefully as others may act on them.
I consider Trump a bully who gets others to do his dirty work and who cosies up to other bullies. The most dangerous bully is one with the nuclear button. Just my opinion.
I don't consider calling someone a liberal name calling, if you are a Antifa member I can see getting upset being called a terrorist.
That's exactly what happened with that reporter, Rep Gianforte got tired of being hounded, he offered the reporter two viable options to his question but not now and the reporter push on. I don't think he should have won the election the next day, violence isn't the answer to anything and it shouldn't be rewarded, especially among well known individuals, if they can't stand the heat they shouldn't jump in the frying pan. I don't agree with Trump making such a statement, being such a news buff and blogger you'd thought I had seen that before now. I think a lot of what he says or has said in the past was to gain media attention and focus, it's hard to get out front being the mouse in the room. Other times I think he just loves trolling the press, which is a more sensible way to send them into a frenzy. I actually enjoy a president who lies right back at those who've sold us out and lied to our faces for decades, they, in my opinion, have just made society a more dangerous place for everyone as people scramble to survive after losing good paying jobs and benefits not to mention those who were already struggling on low wage jobs prior to millions of others losing theirs, desperate people do desperate things.
Trump has not been soft on Russia, Iran or N Korea, if it was left up to the regular status quo the world would always be a more dangerous place, I whole heartedly agree that an open dialogue is the better route to go then to war where thousands of people who don't agree with their government anyway will be the causalities, slowing those aggression's are better than fostering them.
I'm not a part of any group, but I have supported some peaceful protests. Is Antifa an organisation? I don't know anyone involved with it.
The media is not one thing and you have to decide who you trust. There are those who control a lot of it who have their own agendas, as do the politicians. Adding more lies to the mix does not help, but it may be part of a strategy to cause more confusion. It looks to me as if Trump just makes shit up and then his people have to justify it, but maybe he is playing '3d chess'. He seems to care more about his ego than anything else. It's bizarre, but his Twitter feed will keep psychologists busy for decades.
UK politics is fucked up too :(
