Photographic Excursion on Mount Solarolo, trekking on the ridge - Discovering Italy with alequandro

Hello everyone!
In this new episode of "Discovering Italy with alequandro" I take you through my photos on Mount Solarolo, one of the many mountains that make up the Grappa massif and that this one, in particular I had never visited.

For this excursion I decided to join a group of hikers and it was an opportunity to make new friends.

In questo nuovo episodio di "Discovering Italy with alequandro" vi porto attraverso le mie foto sul Monte Solarolo, uno dei tanti monti che costituiscono il massiccio del Grappa e che questo, in particolare non avevo mai visitato.

Per questa escursione ho deciso di unirmi ad un gruppo di escursionisti ed è stata l'occasione per fare nuove amicizie.

The meeting point for the departure was at 1100 meters above sea level and the goal was the 1625 meters of Mount Solarolo.

The itinerary developed mostly along the mountain ridges so the view would have been exceptional.

Il ritrovo per la partenza era a 1100 metri di altitudine e l'obiettivo erano i 1625 metri del monte solarolo.

L'itinerario si sviluppava per la maggior parte lungo i crinali dei monti quindi la vista sarebbe stata eccezzionale.

The initial part of the route was all uphill and would lead us to the mountain ridge.

La parte iniziale del percorso era tutta in salita e ci avrebbe condotto sul crinale della montagna

The more we climbed, the broader the view became in our eyes.
The sun did not bother us, small clouds shielded the sun's rays making our excursion more pleasant.

Più salivamo e più il panorama diventava ampio ai nostri occhi.
Il sole non dava fastidio, delle piccole nuvole schermavano i raggi solari rendendo la nostra escursione più piacevole.

We were about to reach the main hike path:
The high way of heroes

The path is so named because during the First World War it was the first defensive line.
A very long trench ran along all the mountain ridges and many soldiers lost their lives to defend their position.

Much of the trench is still visible.

Stavamo per raggiungere il sentiero principale dell'escursione:
La via alta degli eroi

Il sentiero è chiamato così perchè durante la prima guerra mondiale era la prima linea difensiva.
Una trincea lunghissima percorreva tutti i crinali dei monti e moltissimi soldati hanno perso la vita per difendere la posizione.

Gran parte della trincea è ancora visibile.

Once we reached the top of the first mountain we stopped to contemplate the landscape and we exchanged some words with cyclists who went up the mountain on the opposite side...

Raggiunta la cima del primo monte ci siamo fermati a contemplare il paesaggio e abbiamo scambiato alcune parole con dei ciclisti che risalivano la montagna dalla parte opposta...

Step by step we walked on a path that made continuous ups and downs.
We were 20 people and I enjoyed taking some pictures of the group while walking...

Passo dopo passo abbiamo camminato su un sentiero che faceva dei continui sali scendi.
Eravamo in 20 persone e mi sono divertito a fare alcune foto al gruppo mentre camminava...

During the excursion I often saw huts but almost all of them were closed ... there are no more people willing to do this kind of work.

Durante l'escursione spesso vedevo malghe ma quasi tutte erano chiuse...non ci sono più persone disposte a fare questo tipo di lavoro.

Some areas we crossed were rich in boulders and stones and in some cases rock spurs came out of the ground, they looked like ancient figures...

Alcune zone che abbiamo attraversato erano ricche di massi e pietre e in alcuni casi speroni di roccia uscivano dal terreno, sembravano figure antiche...

On the way I saw many purple flowers like this: the thistle

Durante il cammino ho visto molti fiori viola come questo: il cardo

The weather was fantastic, walking along the ridge with the sun shielded by the clouds and the light high altitude wind made everything enjoyable.
It's great to be able to look to the right and then left and contemplate different landscapes from that altitude.

La meteo era fantastica, camminare lungo il crinale con il sole schermato dalle nuvole e il vento leggero d'alta quota rendeva tutto godibile.
E' bellissimo poter guardare a destra e poi sinistra e contemplare dei paesaggi differenti da quella quota.

This shot makes the idea of the path we were taking, who knows how many soldiers have passed through them!

Questo scatto rende l'idea del percorso che stavamo facendo, chissà quanti soldati sono passati di li!

Look at that view! In the background there are the Dolomites!

Guardate che vista! Sullo sfondo ci sono le dolomiti!

On a top there was a monument dedicated to Lieutenant Vincenzo Zerboglio who distinguished himself during the conflict for his courage and for this he was dedicated this stone with the following effigy:

"A shining example of courage and steadfastness, in bloody fighting, he distinguished himself with acts of the highest value.
With only a few soldiers, he faced a number of times more enemies in fierce combat.

Wounded for the first time by a bullet that pierced his shoulder, he remained among his own, and since his opponents, having had reinforcements, violently counterattacked, he leaped from the trench and, dragging his soldiers behind, drove back to the enemies, inflicting heavy losses.

Hurt again in a thigh, he absolutely didn't want to leave the ward.

Remained in the lines, in a new sudden and furious revival of combat, he exalted his men with cries of enthusiasm, containing first the collision of the adversaries and then driving them back, until he was struck dead in the forehead, gloriously fell, expiring with cry: Viva l 'Italy".

Su una cima c'era un monumento dedicato al sottotenente Vincenzo Zerboglio il quale si era distinto durante il conflitto per il suo suo coraggio e per questo gli era stato dedicato questo cippo con la seguente effige:

"Fulgido esempio di coraggio e fermezza, in sanguinosi combattimenti, si distingueva con atti di altissimo valore.
Con pochi soldati, affrontava in accanita lotta un numero di nemici più volte superiore.

Ferito una prima volta da una pallottola che gli traforava una spalla, rimaneva fra i suoi, e poichè gli avversari , avuti rinforzi, violentemente contrattaccavano, balzava dalla trincea e, trascinandosi dietro i suoi soldati, ricacciav ai nemici, infliggendo gravi perdite.

Ferito nuovamente ad una coscia, non voleva assolutamente abbandonare il reparto.

Rimasto nelle linee, in una nuova repentina e furiosa ripresa di combattimento, esaltava i suoi uomini con grida di entusiasmo, contenendo prima l'urto degli avversari e ricacciandoli poi, finchè colpito a morte in fronte, gloriosamente cadeva, spirando con grido: Viva l'Italia".

What tragic situations... I often wonder, how is it possible to get to lead world conflicts...

Che situazioni tragiche...mi chiedo spesso, come sia possibile arrivare a condurre dei conflitti mondiali...

When the clouds moved they created beautiful play of light and shadow on the lawns.

ITA

Quando le nuvole si spostavano creavano sui prati dei bellissimi giochi di luci e ombre.

Looking to the northeast you could see the sheer cliffs, sometimes I could see birds of prey flying around in search of prey...

Osservando verso nord est si vedevano le pareti rocciose a strapiombo, qualche volta riuscivo a vedere uccelli rapaci volare in cerchio in cerca di prede...

Each top had a memorial cross, isolated, in the silence of nature. A sacred place.

ITA

Ogni cima aveva una croce commemorativa, isolata, nel silenzio della natura. Un luogo sacro.

When I took this photo we had traveled about 10 kilometers, a bit tiring, but it was great to be there and I didn't feel the fatigue much.

Quando avevo scattato questa foto avevamo percorso circa 10 chilometri, un po' faticoso, ma era bellissimo essere lì e non sentivo più di tanto la fatica.

Still a steep climb and then we would have stopped to eat something, it was time for lunch!

Ancora una ripida salita e poi ci saremmo fermati per mangiare qualcosa, era ora di pranzo!

Here is a shot during the break, what a silence, what peace!

Ecco uno scatto durante la pausa, che silenzio, che pace!

In front of me, while I was sitting on the grass, I had this view, how wonderful!

Di fronte a me, mentre ero seduto sull'erba, avevo questa vista, che meraviglia!

After the brief pause we resumed our journey and were overcome by a solitary woman who was on our own journey. What a good one, I admire her!

Dopo la breve pausa abbiamo ripreso il cammino e siamo stati superati da una donna solitaria che faceva il nostro stesso percorso. Che la brava, la ammiro!

Here is another climb and at the top a memorial stone.
The group leader faces the climb and I silently, without noticing, took a picture of him ...
A few days later I gave it to him and he was very happy! :)

Ecco un'altra salita e in cima un cippo commemorativo.
La guida del gruppo affronta la salita e io in silenzio, senza farmi notare gli ho scattato una foto...
Qualche giorno dopo gliel'ho regalata ed era felicissimo! :)

And here are other wonderful landscapes ... luckily I have very capacious memories so I can take many pictures without worrying! :D

That little house in the middle of the mountain had really surprised and fascinated me at the same time.
The house had something mysterious...

Quella casetta in mezzo alla montagna mi aveva proprio sorpreso e affascinato allo stesso tempo.
La casa aveva un che di misterioso...

Shortly afterwards while I was drinking some water it started to rain ... luckily for a few seconds then it stopped.

ITA

Poco dopo mentre bevevo un po' d'acqua a cominciato a piovere...per fortuna per pochi secondi poi ha smesso.

We were halfway, we had to face the path of return!
We were going towards a hut. A possible shelter in case of heavy rain.

ITA

Eravamo a metà strada, dovevamo affrontare il sentiero del ritorno!
Stavamo andando in direzione di una malga. Un'eventuale rifugio in caso di pioggia forte.

There were really so many sheep!
It had started raining again but it seemed like it was going to stop so we decided to continue.

C'erano davvero moltissime pecore!
Aveva ripreso di nuovo a piovere ma sembrava stesse per smettere così abbiamo deciso di proseguire.

That's where sheep and cows drink! :)

Ecco dove bevono le pecore e le mucche! :)

We were a little tired but we were approaching the end of the excursion. In this section we were at the fifteenth kilometer!

Eravamo un po' stanchi ma ci stavamo avvicinando alla fine dell'escursione. In questo tratto eravamo al quindicesimo chilometro!

Through the trees some cows grazed quietly in the sun...

ITA

Attraverso gli alberi alcune mucche pascolavano tranquille al sole...

Then we came to a farm. There was a lot of people and we decided to relax drinking a beer and then resume the journey.

Poi siamo giunti ad un agriturismo. C'era molta gente e abbiamo deciso di rilassarci bevendo una birra per poi riprendere il cammino.

A few meters away, while we were crossing a small forest, we were suddenly surprised by a couple of cows hidden in the twilight of the trees.

Pochi metri oltre, mentre attraversavamo un piccolo bosco, ad un tratto siamo rimasti sorpresi da un paio di mucche nascoste nella penombra degli alberi.

Here are the other cows who preferred to sunbathe in the sun! :)

Ecco le altre mucche che hanno preferito abbronzarsi al sole! :)

When there was about a kilometer to go, I couldn't stop myself from photographing a small body of water.
I took 10 photos to compose the photo otherwise I would not have succeeded with a single click.
I would say that the result is good!

Quando mancava circa un chilometro all'arrivo, non ho potuto trattenermi dal fotografare un piccolo specchio d'acqua.
Ho scattato 10 foto per comporre la foto sennò non ci sarei riuscito con un singolo scatto.
Direi che il risultato è buono!

And as a last shot I greet you with a little surprise that happened to us at the end of the excursion.
A flock of sheep at sunset, crossing the street creating a truly magical and memorable atmosphere!

I was already satisfied with the excursion but seeing that show was the end of a perfect day!!

E come ultimo scatto vi saluto con una piccola sopresa che ci è capitata sul finale dell'escursione.
Un gregge di pecore al tramonto, attraversava la strada creando un'atmosfera davvero magica e memorabile!

Ero già soddisfatto dell'escursione ma assistere a quello spettacolo è stata la conclusione di una giornata perfetta!!

The post is really long, in fact the excursion has exceeded 18 kilometers and there have been dozens of occasions to take interesting photos.

Il post è davvero lungo, in effetti l'escursione ha superato i 18 chilometri e ci sono state decine di occasioni per fare foto interessanti.
