SLC S27 Week1 - Let's Play OpenTTD

in #openttd-w1yesterday

I love playing games and I always find it so interesting to play a new game. I must say that since I have been playing games, I haven't heard about the OpenTTD Game. Thanks so much to @sergeyk for introducing me to this interesting game, from which I have learnt something interesting.

🚂Task 1✈️

To install and set up the game, I visited the OpenTTD website and clicked on Download OpenTTD

op.PNG

I was then taken to this window where I then clicked on Window 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 (64-bit) (installer). This is the window that is capable for my system.

op1.PNG

OpenTTD was downloaded, which I then opened and clicked on Next.

op2.PNG

  • I click I agree to the license.

op3.PNG

  • I choose the install location and click on Next

op4.PNG

  • I then click on Install and wait for about 2 minutes for the installation to be successful.
op5.PNGop6.PNG
  • After a successful installation, I need to set up the graphics which I click on "Yes, download the graphics". I waited for the download to be completed, which was 3.36MB.
op7.PNGop8.PNG

From the above, you can see that the graphics were downloaded successfully and it makes the background look beautiful and appealing. Since it's my first time opening the game, I skipped the survey part because I have less knowledge about the game for the first time. For me to set up the game and have a more beautiful graphic background and a soundtrack, I clicked on the check online content.

op9.PNG

A lot of options were shown to me and a place where I can search for my preferred options, which at the tag/name filter: FX is the keyword that I type in and search, which pops up a Base graphics OpenGFX.

op10.PNG

Due to the capabilities of my system, especially when sound is activated, I only install the Base Graphics OpenGFX2 classic. My Base graphics OpenGFX installation is now successful.

op11.PNGop12.PNG

I then select the game options and update the language and the currency of the game as suggested by the professor. I chose English and USD.

op14.PNG

At the graphics section, it is on OpenGFX and the sound is No sound, so my system wouldn't malfunction.

I click on the floppy disk icon to save the game. I replaced the game of the game by changing the date to 1950-01-24. I then loaded the game, and it was successfully uploaded.

Have you played train games before, or did you have a railway in your childhood?

No, I have not played the game before, nor have I heard about the game before. In my childhood, I wasn't privileged enough to have a railway while growing up.

🚂Task 2 ✈️

Industries: This is the button that opens several lists of all available Industries that are in the game. Players can sort the Industries by name or type.

op25.PNG

Towns: This is the button that opens several list of all available towns that are in the game. Players can sort the towns by name or population size. The city has been indicated as a developed town.

op24.PNG

Road Construction: This is the button that allows players to open the toolbar of the railway. With these buttons, players can build stations, tracks, roads, tunnels, bridges, etc.

op23.PNG

Describe the windows used in the program.

op27.PNG

There are many windows that are used in the program, and the towns and cities windows are the most used in the program. The window, as I have earlier talked about, can be sorted by name or population.

🚂Task 3✈️

In order for me to choose a city with a small population of around 500 inhabitants I click on the town's button and sort the population. I selected Caston with 526 inhabitants.

city.PNG

After selecting the city, I then edit it and change the name of the city to my Steemit username. After changing the city name the inhabitants increased to 540

city1.PNG

I give a name to my company and choose an avatar. Since I am from Africa I switched to the Africa avatar as my avatar.

After everything, I saved the game to a file named homework.

🚂Task 4✈️

What I did here was test the landscape tool. As requested by the professor, I made use of three tools: clear tools, mounds, and depression tools. I also write the text using the tools, and I also test the plantation tool to plant the trees.

Text draw

I used the demolition tools to clear the trees on the land. After I cleared the trees, I then drew a text in the land which you can see in the image.

TR.PNGTree planting

Here you can see that I planted some trees using the plant trees tool on the land. It is different trees that I plant near the city.

🚂Task 5✈️

IN.PNG

In order for me to explore resources and industries independently on the map I opened the industry directly. There are many companies in the industry that players can sort by name, category, or cargo acceptance.

GOLD.PNGGold

Near my city, I found oil wells, coal, and gold. These resources weren't transported, which, if I were to transport them close to my city, would fetch me money. In my city, there is an oil refinery and paper mill that I found.

Thank you for the invitation. I have also participated in this challenge. I enjoyed playing this game. Everything in the game costs money which is not a good thing 😂. At least removal of trees should be free.

Exactly it is too expensive to play especially it one is to fund his or her account. Imagine charging up to $30 for planting of just one tree. Indeed it is an interesting game.
