Open Mic Week 30
Thanks for supporting, upvoting, Resteeming and entering Open Mic, a community of music lovers for music lovers and musicians.
2 Votes = Win Win
You can help support Open Mic by making sure to vote two times.
Once on this post so the payouts for the winners will make this contest self-supporting. We're very grateful @pfunk is helping out right now, but helping this post with upvotes gives more rewards to the winners and the contest will be self supporting.
And vote a 2nd time on the link of your favorite entry's post found in the comments below. This will help support all the musicians that entered, even if they didn't win the contest.
In fact, some entries earned very well, even though they didn't win. And that's good because musicians need to eat.
Winners from week 29 will be announced tomorrow, Monday, April 24th, 2017 so be sure to follow @luzcypher for updates and thanks for everyone that entered, upvoted and resteemed Open Mic.
Open Mic Process
Keeping it short and sweet, here is the flow of considerations for the Open Mic contest:-
Need to promote community participation in spirit of Open Mic night.
So.. Open Mic submissions in comments, community voting and reblogging is encouraged.
However, we need to avoid public vote abuse and keep a certain standard for Open Mic night.
- So.. community voting as first filter, before internal voting.
- Another problem: late submissions are usually disadvantaged as they get less attention on the contest post.
- So.. we've tried to mitigate such a problem by including unique votes of Open Mic submissions in their own blog posts.
IT IS CRUCIAL WHEN YOU RECORD YOUR VIDEO THAT YOU SAY OPEN MIC WEEK 30 AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR VIDEO We're looking for real live performances for this contest. Some people have posted old videos from YouTube and it's difficult to verify that it's really them performing. In the future they will be disqualified from the contest.
You can still post an older video if you want and enter so you can earn on your post, but prize money will not be paid out for those posts. If you want to earn the prize, make a new video and say OPEN MIC Week 30 at the start of it. If you just want to enter and don't care about the prize money, then you still can.
You can sing acapella if you don't play an instrument or sing to a recording if you want and still enter Open Mic.

New Music Category Communities
Music Category communities are coming together on Steemit and if you're a music lover, please show support and join in the fun. Here's a few new places to find great music.
@music-trail team is part of the SteemTrail project, curating good music you can find here.
There is a blockchain based record company on Steemit you can read more about here: Announcement - Thirsty Entertainment Website is now live! --- by @thirsty
There's many places to share your music online and you can read about it on this post titled 7 Websites To Publish Your Music And Earn --- by @rossenpavlov
Suggestion: openmic must be the first tag to enter open mic, but adding other music related tags (such as music, music-trail) may help your post get more attention and perhaps even get curated by those music curators.
If your song is an original song, you may want to add orginalmusic as your 2nd tag.
Thank you all for the participation!

Thanks for playing at Open Mic.
TY!
Oh good, I finally managed to catch one of these out of the box, it's been awhile :) Resteeming!
Cool and thank you. Are you going to jump in?
I wish I was a musician. Or that my brother would stop dragging his feet and get his arse on here! I've been refraining from posting his videos lately because he keeps assuring me that he plans to open an account soon and I don't want to run him out of stored material, lol!
Point your phone at him, make him say Open Mic 30, record him playing and post it on your account. Then show him what you earned. That has gotten musicians to start an account before and it will work with your brother too.
You would think so! But I've made over twenty bucks on some of the posts I've put up of him playing, he's seen it, he loves the idea, but he's still dragging his feet. And he has a ready made audience here, I've become quite friendly with a number of people in the music community who are waiting for his arrival and really enjoy his stuff :) To be fair, he and his wife had their first baby in December so he's been preoccupied. He just started playing gigs out at bars again, so now I think it should only be a matter of time.
Oh yea, I remember now and have upvoted some of those posts myself. Silly brother, but I know how it feels sometimes. I used to play so many shows and got burnt out and needed a break too.
I also remember some of the those! Your bro has a wicked voice colour!
goin to try again! (resteemed)
Cool.
