Voices of Open Mic - My Thoughts and Experiences on Steemit's Open Mic Contest

in #openmic7 years ago (edited)

What's good Steemit!

As a musician on the Steem blockchain, I find the open mic contest to be a huge source of motivation, inspiration, as well as a drive to push me farther and discover more of my talents. I am more than happy to share my experiences, as @luzcypher just recently published a post asking us to express ourselves and offer our opinions and perspectives on the Open Mic contest here on Steemit.

I first started participating in the open mics in June of 2017 when I joined Steemit, and after a break, jumped back into Steemit in December. My first course of action was to film myself performing my songs for the open mic contest, which brought me into the idea of even sharing my music visually on this platform.

Since then, I've been pushed to make better videos, become more creative with my music, and have connected with a ton of great musicians from all over the world!

Tune in for all my thoughts and feelings on the Open Mic!

Here's the video on YouTube in case DTube isn't working!

Thanks for watching!

Fantastic video my friend, so great to hear you talk about your music and your journey here on steemit and with openmic, fantastic quality in the video, and really on fire thoughts my friend I sense that passion oozin hypes me up.. huge love to you

Thank you so much Bonnie!! Much love!!

Dude, so cool how you turned a challenge into an asset! Hat's off to you, man for having the artistry and intellect to grow your game, brother!

PS... Just so you know, the musical instrument constraint is not absolute - it was more so implemented to dissuade scammers vs. anything else.

For example, I had a pure "karaoke-style" vocal performance make it into my top-5 this week!

If you read @luzcyphers modified rules and all of the comments associated therewith carefully, you'll realize that it is not an absolute imperative that a musical instrument must be present in any given entry.

Anyway, keep rappin' it like you do, bro! Any which way that makes it happen for you, man! Much love, bro!

Thanks so much brother! And I appreciate that extra info, now I know for sure!
I love the fact that this contest has stretched me and helped me grow. Thanks for your support along the way!!

I couldn't agree more dude. Steemit has actually made me get out of my shell. It has really made me grow.

Que bueno escuchar eso hermano. Soy nuevo en la plataforma, pero pense que era un concurso y para escritores tambien es lo que mas trabajo jaj. Exitos!

Totally man it's pretty insane how much I've been able to grow my creative skills here!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this video and your music. It's amazing, right? That we can make more playing Open Mic sometimes than playing a live gig. Still blows my mind.

I'm glad you're here and that you're growing your skills.

Yup! What's crazy is I've run full shows where I've booked 5 gigs, performed my own set, and even ran the sound and backing music between acts, and would come out with $40 to my name lol. The hustle is real, but Steemit and the Open Mics are helping that musician hustle :)

Awesome bro. Hugs!.

Thanks bro, I'm myself starting, going back and forth, and feel very connected with everything you say!
