Open Letters Challenge// An Open Letter to the Friends I lost along the way…
It is one of the severest tests of friendship to tell your friend his faults. So to love a man that you cannot bear to see a stain upon him, and to speak painful truth through loving words, that is friendship. – (Henry Ward Beecher). I just couldn’t imagine seeing all my friends gone so soon from me. Sometimes, I wonder what could have hampered this sweet friendship with you; this always makes me nervous remembering you all. The Good Times
Looking back at my first phrase ”It is one of the severest tests of friendship to tell your friend his faults. So to love a man that you cannot bear to see a stain upon him, and to speak painful truth through loving words…” It was such a great moment sharing our thoughts and correcting all our mistakes. I can vividly remember we were five(5) then with great potentials that we look like real brothers and sisters though from different backgrounds and families. The funny part of this is that we found ourselves in the same school but in different classes; we assisted each other in doing assignments, house chores and so many areas. It was indeed a great experience. “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. We were called then the fabulous five(5). I can still remember our names: akadan(the comedian),Chibest(the story teller), Nkechi(the cook), Chichi(the mathematician) and Ike(the singer). This was a lovely combination where I was the comedian entertaining others jokes and riddles. Chibest was there to tell nice stories that will make us to dream even in the day-time. Nkechi was one of the best cook then as she prepares beautiful snacks and foods for us. Wow! we enjoyed her meals. Chi-chi is something else; she is a great mathematician who solves things in her brain so quickly that we always go to her for advice on decisions we are taking. Lastly, “Ike no dey carry last o”(Nigerian pidgin English- meaning he doesn’t lack behind what we are doing). He always sings and plays his guitar whenever one of us is having a bad time or is depressed. The Bad Times
Well, I can’t say we didn’t have some disagreement or indeed some bad times among ourselves. There came a time when we fought among ourselves involving our parents and teachers; It affected most of us in our studies which made some of them to quit the friendship following their parents instruction. This actions really did a great damage to this friendship, scattering everyone apart and putting them all in confusion. I just hate remembering and I had to move on.
The Measures Taken for Re-union/Solution Memories are made when gathered around the table. As I have tabled down all our past and saw our mistakes, I plead with you guys in anyway I have offended you please forgiven me let’s start afresh again which I believe will be sweeter and better off though distance may be a barrier but we can visit each other from time to time.
Finally,
Like branches of a tree, our lives may GROW in different directions yet our ROOTS remain as one. Please dear friends we should all see ourselves as one though we may not see each other face to face because of distance, lets us see ourselves as one. Thanks for your help. I really enjoyed your presence hoping we can see each other someday. I love you all and God bless you all.
