OKEx follows Binance to Malta!

in #okex7 years ago (edited)

Recently, the world's largest crypto exchange announced Binance to open an office in Malta. Yesterday OKEx announced that they also want to expand their business to the small blockchain-friendly island near Italy.

As I reported a few weeks ago (https://steemit.com/deeponion/@seele01/binance-moves-to-europe), Binance will open an office in Malta and enable a fiat-to-crypto exchange. This means that our beloved cryptocurrencies can be purchased directly in €uros. However, this requires a closed banking partnership beforehand.

Yesterday OKEx announced that they will open an office on the small island of Malta to drive the expansion and growth of the stock exchange in Europe.

Chris Lee, CEO of OKEx, says he is looking forward to working with the Maltese Government and sees Malta as the hub of the future blockchain industry of Europe:

--We look forward to working with the Maltese Government as it is forward-looking and shares many of our values: the most important are the protection of traders and the public, compliance with the principles of money laundering and the recognition of innovation and the outstanding importance of the continued development of the Blockchain ecosystem.--

Malta's Prime Minister welcomed Binance's CEO, Changpeng Zhao, personally a few weeks ago, while emphasising that Malta wants to establish itself as the leading EU member state with the best conditions for all companies within the blockchain sector. Rumour has it that 20 other crypto exchanges are considering opening an office in Malta to take advantage of the crypto-friendly conditions and laws. Bitfinex recently announced that they will open an office in Switzerland.

My conclusion:
I am totally happy that more and more crypto exchanges are finally making the right decision and moving to Europe. In my view, this shows that the crypto has finally arrived and can now be taken more seriously in Europe, whether by ignorant politicians or the general public. In order to make crypto currencies generally acceptable, purchasing them must be very easy, comparable to visiting a supermarket.

I can only hope that the government in Malta, possibly under pressure from the European Community, will not at some point oppose crypto currencies.

Furthermore, it is the task of our whole community to establish our privacy coin DeepOnion on Binance and OKEx. Our community driven development fund portal "VoteCentral" is right around the corner. Let's make a proposal and vote for it!
