New York! New York

So during a 13 hour layover in nyc I had an epiphany about why new yorkers love nyc so much. If you're interested here are my thoughts:

It's the city where you learn to do without. No money, no space, no car, no time...
No problem!

It's the modern day sanyas, you can't hoarde material possessions here. Instead NYC is all about the experience. A cramped balcony with a breathtaking view of the skyline means more than a 60" led smart tv, the ability to walk to Broadway means more than owning a Cadillac, and the people who live here, live for a dream... a purpose. The statue of liberty proudly stands guardian to each and every one of their dreams, which could be something as "base" as making a shit a tonne of money and then spending it, or as lofty as solving world hunger at the UN HQ, she does not judge, but she does demand that you have one.

To a new yorker the lack of time is a ridiculous concept. Their time is consumed by one overarching goal, and they pursue it without distraction. A new yorker lives and dies by that dream, this is their boon. This is also their curse. This is also why nyc isn't for everyone and it's definitely not for visitors.

You're either a local or you're a pariaha, there's no in-between.
