Cardi B supports presidential candidate Bernie Sanders
"I have read about Bernie Sanders and I am disappointed by how we let him down in 2016," said the rapper of Dominican origin
(CARDI B).
Rapper Cardi B on Tuesday expressed support for US Senator Bernie Sanders, a progressive who aspires to the presidential candidacy for the Democratic Party, and said voters "let him down" at the 2016 intern against Hillary Clinton.
“I have read about Bernie Sanders and I feel disappointed by how we let him down in 2016,” tweeted the artist, who has more than six million followers and is very critical of Donald Trump.
"This man fought for equal rights and for HUMAN rights for a long time," wrote the Bronx artist about Sanders, an independent senator for the state of Vermont.
And he added that seeing the United States become a better place has been Sanders' goal for a long time.
"Thank you, @iamcardib!" The senator replied in a tweet. "Our fight for justice is far from over and we will not give up."
The rap superstar, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, has already offered her support to Sanders in the past and in 2016 encouraged her followers to “vote for 'Daddy Bernie'” in a video, warning them that immigrant women would be deported if Trump came to the presidency.
In April, the 26-year-old Grammy-winning singer told Variety that she would always be with Bernie and showed her support for the 2020 elections.
"Bernie doesn't say things to be‘ cool, "he said. "There are images of him as a long, long, long time activist."
In 2018, the 77-year-old senator thanked Cardi B for expressing his admiration for the interventionist policies of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal in an interview with GQ.
Earlier this year, the rapper criticized Trump for the "shutdown" of the federal government due to a lack of agreement by the budget law and for allowing federal employees to work without charge.
