A day in the life : Day 203
Today felt…intentionally slow. I actively decided to not schedule anything specific, just to see what the day would bring. It started with a really leisurely breakfast – pancakes with berries and a ridiculous amount of maple syrup. No rushing, no guilt.
Spent a good chunk of the morning wandering around a local bookstore. I love the smell of old books and just browsing the shelves. Found a couple of treasures – a poetry collection and a slightly battered copy of a classic novel.
Then I ended up in a park, just sitting on a bench and people-watching. It's surprisingly entertaining. A little girl was having a full-blown conversation with a squirrel. A couple was having a picnic. Just little slices of everyday life.
Lunch was a simple sandwich, eaten outside in the sunshine. I've been trying to get better at actually enjoying my meals, instead of just inhaling them while staring at a screen.
The afternoon was dedicated to a creative project. I've been trying to learn calligraphy for ages, and I actually made some decent progress today. It’s so relaxing to just focus on the shapes and the flow of the ink.
Dinner was takeout – Thai food, my favourite. Then I curled up on the sofa with a blanket and watched a documentary. Something about space exploration.
It wasn’t a particularly eventful day, but it was exactly what I needed. A day to just be. To wander, to create, to relax. Sometimes the simplest days are the most fulfilling. I think I’ll try to incorporate more of these “unscheduled” days into my routine.
