This is an interesting one i must say. Thanks @funcontest for giving us the opportunity to share our ideas and also for helping us bring out the best in us.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT TAGS FOR YOUR POST.
The use of tags are very serious concerns for every newbie that gets initiated into the system. You find some using usernames of people who got them in the system and all. This is not wrong as a username could be a tag but what determines a good tag is the frequent use of this tag and than it's popularity. Nonetheless, one could create a tag for his use.
Now it then all boils down to what are tags? Which is also know as hashtags.
a word or phrase preceded by a hash sign (#), used on social media websites and applications, especially Twitter, to identify messages on a specific topic.
Now with this we could be guided on what tags are. Tags are basically keywords used to facilitate quick search on a particular topic.
Thus, the use of tags on steemit, enables users search for desired topics they wish to read up on. Therefore stating the clear need for the use of right tags.
Remember i said it facilitates quick search. Thus, when putting up a blog post, make sure you put in key words that would enable you get an audience. E.g your post is a motivational post; your first tag should be motivation. Not necessarily the first but advicably the first. With this every user interested in motivation would see your work just cause you have used that tag. Secondly, if you belong to a community e.g stach, it's essential you use the tag. That way you get support from your community. Also the use of related keywords e.g motivation; inspiration.
But the use of wrong thats might get you into trouble or won't attract the right audience and that way, you blog won't get any traction .
In sum, how to choose the right tag are firstly, define your audience. Secondly use keywords of what you are write about. Thirdly, use community tags especially your community. Also use location tags to gain some geographical support. Use project-tags when you write about a project. Avoid using tags that are not related to what you have written; avoid spamming.
