My Trip To Bergen
Hi, Steemit friends!
I just came home from a course at the University Hospital in Bergen.
Bergen is the second biggest city in Oslo.
I stayed at Opus XVI, a brand new hotel, which is made in honor of the famous composer Edvard Grieg.
The first night I ate in the Hotel Restaurant:
Cusk (Brosme brosme): Fantastic, almost lobster-like, taste.
Lavish breakfast:
I think perhaps the hotel should have 5 stars because I find the standard too high for "just" 4 stars.
The lectures were pretty specialized, so I will not go into details, but I found these slides by an oncologist to be spot on:
The health care system is extremely collectivist and one size fits all is the current mantra.
This is definitively going to change as new research identifies subgroups of patient/ tumors that respond/ do not respond to a particular treatment modality. As a libertarian, I do believe this could challenge the present collectivist dogma and move the society in a more decentralized and individualistic direction.
The second evening I went to a Brazilian beef restaurant called Brasilia.
It was a buffet where the gauchos served meat straight from the grill:
The beef was fantastic, but I found the place a little too meatish, even for me.
Bergen is the street art capital in Norway.
This is a painting - Rain - by AFK:
Fish & Chips at the airport: Archetypal Bergensian street food.
Bergen is definitively worth a visit, and they are pretty patriotic, to such an extent that they are talking about forming a new country in a process known at Berxit. Good luck!
When I came home I was pleasantly surprised that Steem was numero uno.
@janusface,
Prof I see a lot of delicious foods and few photography of remarkable places! After all I am awaiting to vote again to gain STEEM to the listing! So far it holds #1. But Verge is behind it!
Cheers~
Away from keyboard
The street painting from AFK is intriguing @janusface,
I never heard of this group so I today I looked up their work. Not only this paining, but a lot of their street work includes purple. AFK stands for "Away from Keyboard." This is brilliant and the way to bring a city back to life. I live in Seoul and a lot of projects similar to this are going on. I really like it.
I can hear the song "Rain Dancing" in the background by Gaelle.
Glad you liked it. I also believe that street art could bring more life and spice up a city if it is done the right way of course. Certainly healthy to be AFK once in a while.
The hotel looks Smashing..
From the first sentence it seems you a doctor in training I guess.?
Yes, I am training to become a pathologist.
wow!!
That's greet, success all the way..
Hello my friend The pictures were great,
Congratulations to you , I hope your trip is successful
Thank's for sharing
The steak looks absolutely enticing
There is nothing like a nice hotel and the enjoyment of some of the fine restaurants during travel. I remember the Brazilian Steak Houses in Houston and other places. What a treat.
@janusface I would have loved the Brasilia Buffet. I am in Favor of Beef. I do eat vegetables too but I do not want to even buy into Veganism...............Beautiful Hotel
