The Journey.... Part C

A Must Read

The last time I made this trip was in 2012. I had made the journey down to seek admission into a prestigious college.
In that trip I got what I came seeking for and lost it also, all in one month. It was a trip riddled with bad memories.

I felt quite nostalgic as we made our way into the city. A city where I had once held my dreams, and also a place where I saw my dreams slip through my fingers.

But life had a funny way of making people bipolar.

Within minutes of beholding the beauty the city had to offer, nostalgia became a long lost feeling.

My... was it beautiful
I had never seen such beauty, such architecture, such attention to detail in all my life.
It was a 21st century marvel. The first I had seen all my life...
I wondered for a while if I had seen others when I was younger, but I was sure I would remember this one for a while....

The streets were as bright as the day.
The buildings as tall as the sky itself.
Fully decorated with lights that showed its architectural curves and layers.
It was just over 8pm, the roads were full with all sort of vehicles, people everywhere.
Flocks of people all over malls and cozy spots.
On a Week Day!!!
The night life here was on another level.
A level I had only seen in movies and never experienced.
My love for this city was unparalleled. I had never loved a place the way I did at that moment.

Finally, after all my drooling over how beautiful the city gates were, I met the priestess of a mother, her delight had no bound.
Before that moment, we hadn't seen each other in over a year. We had a lot to catch up on.
The ride home was quite slow, the first slow trip I enjoyed.
I couldn't get enough of the scenery. I wanted to see everything, to experience everything.
For the first time, I wasn't in a hurry to complete a journey.
It was more about the journey now than the destination.
The destination could wait, I was in no hurry to full my eyes with delight.
Every turn had a wonder to behold, a structure or a carefully carved out landscape.
I couldn't get enough, and the city wasn't tired of stuffing my mind full with more.
Finally got to my apartment, the cousins were ecstatic to see me. Life had kept us apart for over a year. I had almost forgotten how much fun they could be.

The night continued with loads of catch ups. We all talked so long, that I had forgotten to eat.
The conversation continued till a few minutes after midnight, then it dawned on me that I needed to rest.

The next day had a lot to offer me.
The next day would be the day my life took a trip into the fast lane.
Destiny had earmarked that day for me.
At around 1am, the Fixer closed his eyes, dreams of what that day had for him kept him up to a while.
The beauty of the city and the anticipation of what's to come took his mind into a fantasy world.
From which, he slept.

A new day awaited him.......
