It’s a scorcher here in our heart
without a wisp of verse wind
but we are just a wordless bard
awaiting a drop of rain.

The azure sky yields no mists
no notion of a drop.
we thought we drowned
in those dunes long ago.

Still, we combat everyday demons
with a solitary pen and a bible verse,
allowing all of the billowing fumes disperse;
those that aim to poison our soul.
It may be a scorcher
but we always have a life and hope.
