This was one of the topics given to the contestants in MissSteem Nigeria. Its actually an interesting topic. This is one major thing in our society. Even the nation.
Yes, fighting for hunger. The word "fighting" is not talking about physical fight, that involves two persons wrestling. But its talking about ways on how to prevent hunger in the society or nation as a whole. Now this is the fact. Hunger cannot be put to stop. But it can be prevented.
What is hunger? Hunger is a feeling of weakness, discomfort, caused by lack of food, coupled with desire to eat. Hunger is lack of food, hungriness, emptiness. Hunger is having a strong desire or craving for food.
In the above definition of hunger, you'll understand that when food is not available, there is bond to be hunger. But, aside the availability of food, i'm going to talk about some major and minor reasons why the rate of hunger is high is some cities or nations.
MAJOR REASONS OR CAUSES OF HUNGER
1). LACK OF FOOD: Lack of is one of the major causes of hunger. When food is not available there will be hunger. And there are cause for lack of food. And one of them is money.
Money is anything that is generally accepted for purchase of goods and services. When money is not available, people cant feed and its unhealthy.
2). UNEMPLOYMENT: Unemployment is unavailability of job. When there is no job, there is no source of income. The rate of hunger will be high.
3). POOR GOVERNMENT: When the government is bad, when there is no good governmental policies in the state or country, the rate of hunger will be high. Bad governmental policies is unhealthy for her citizens. It brings hardship, it brings hunger.
4). POOR FAMILY BACKGROUND: Yes poor family background. Its one of the cause of hunger. When the family background is poor it affects the generation of that family. When a family does not have a good reputation the is every tendency that there will be hunger. Because no one can assist one another. There will be no good opportunity.
5). ILLITERACY: Illiteracy is lack of knowledge, no educational background. People suffer for lack of knowledge. And even when there is job opportunity they cant stand out. Because they are uneducated. And its also of factor.
6). NO ACQUISITION OF SKILL: People should be skilled. If the rate of skilled labourers is high hunger can be prevented. People should acquire skill. Skill can be acquired without going to school. People should get handwork and they will be independent. They should be self employed. In that way they can employ other and impact skill on them.
Now we know the major causes. Lets look at how to prevent hunger. Because hunger can only be prevented.
HOW TO PREVENT OR FIGHT HUNGER.
1). SKILL ACQUISITION: Its very important for one to have a skill or handwork. Especially in our present state in the nation Nigeria. The citizens feed through their handwork. And it will prevent hunger. Skill acquisition comes in different ways. And people get paid for the services they render. And they become self employed and they employ others when the business is expanded.
2). PROVISION OF BASIC AMENITIES: It is the duty of the government to produce and make available basic amenities for her citizens. There should be good road, electricity, good transportation services etc. When there is good basic amenities business can go smoothly and it will also reduce the risk of hunger.
3). PROPER PLANNING, BUDGETING AND SAVING: Its advisable for people to plan and spend money wisely. This is something that affects some individual. They dont make good budget and they spend money for the wrong things. And they dont save. All this can save them from hunger.
4). INTERNET: Today the world is evolved and internet has made it easy. People make money with their phones. People make money online without stress. Thank God for Steemit.Com. Now you post and earn from the platform. There are other platform to.
