Alcohol Kills More Kids Than Guns!
I was thinking...
...about the gun debate today and I thought "I wonder how many children die from guns each day and how many die from alcohol". I hadn't heard anyone mention this comparison in the debate, so I looked up the actual figures.
It turns about 2,500 people 19 or younger die from a gun-related cause each year. That's a lot and it's very sad. About half of those are suicides.
For alcohol, about 4,358 people 20 or younger die from alcohol-related causes each year. Also, very heart-breaking.
So...?
The issue that obviously arises, though, is the fact that so many on the left try to say that their reason for being concerned about guns is the number of children (and adult) deaths from them. If their concern actually arises from the number of deaths of something that "people don't need to have", wouldn't promoting a ban on alcohol instead of guns be a more effective solution?
