A Daily Reminder Human Beings Are Cruel
We have all been somewhat conditioned with bad news when it comes to human beings, constant stories about war and despair, you eventually become desensitised to it (as sociopathic as that sounds).
When it comes to animals, for some reason I am completely different. I could hear bad news about animals every day and still, I would immediately feel compassion and sorrow over bad news about a war event or some other disaster (to an extent).
Today's heartbreaking story involves a moose that drowned in Vermont because a crowd of people scared it into the water, trying to take photos of it.
The Independent reports it had already swum several kilometres and was tired. When bystanders saw it, they start taking photos and it went back into the water, tried to swim and drowned from exhaustion.
Unless you're a predator at the top of the food chain like a tiger or lion, you're a defenceless animal in the grand scheme of things. In this age of social media where everyone has to photograph and share everything, sadly occurrences like these are going to become more frequent.
Human beings really are the worse.
