The United Nations Population Fund has an assessment of gender-based violence in the region last year. It is said that relief assistance is being provided for sexual relations. The report titled 'Voices from Syria 018' said that officials were getting women to marry for a short time to get 'sexual services' in exchange for food. Many women have to spend the night with the officials to get relief.

It is further reported that widows, women, and women, who have no male guardians, and domestic displaced women are particularly victims of this sexual harassment.
