Elon Musk has decided to look for a technological solution to the problem of cryptocurrency scammers that swarm on Twitter.

in #news6 years ago (edited)

Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and co-founder of Paypal, contacted Jackson Palmer, creator of the cryptocurrency DogeCoin, by means of a tweet sent from his official account, where he proposed to develop a solution that put an end to the robots and scammers, who impersonate the identity of personalities on Twitter in order to steal money or information to users of the network, amethod phishing that has directly affected him, although in the past he was perplexed and laughed.

@ummjackson if you can help get rid of the annoying scam spammers, that would be much appreciated

Palmer responded immediately, stating that he had developed a simple script that was ready to be executed and that had the ability to eradicate the scamming robots from the platform. In the words of the creator of Dogecoin, managed to have a conversation with Musk to devise a way to present the script to the Twitter team and thus solve the problem in an automated way.

If you DM me (your DMs aren’t open), I’ll send you the script - it’s short, simple and you just run it with cron somewhere.

"Elon has the script ... we had a good conversation about how @jack and the Twitter team should definitely automate and fix this problem on their own," he said, noting that Jack Patrick Dorsey, creator of Twitter, should take this solution into account to implement it. on your platform.

In this sense, if the two founders manage to join forces, present the project and get a nod from the Twitter directive, the crypto-haters of this social network could be a topic of tomorrow. A news that could greatly benefit the cryptocurrency market that lives on Twitter.

 A BIG PROBLEM

It is not a secret that scammers are an increasingly well-known reality in the social network , becoming a problem for the managers of the platform, users and security agencies at an international level. For example, it is estimated that there are some 15,000 robots on Twitter scamming unsuspecting users who deliver their cryptocurrency savings without verifying the authenticity of the publications or the identity of the personalities.

The proliferation of these swindling robots has even affected the figure of the Pope, who has also sufferedan impersonation of his identity. In this way, and making the problem increasingly difficult to manage, the Twitter board has announced that it is studying to use blockchain in its services to avoid this type of situation, an implementation that could take a long time.

Elon Musk has been one of the personalities most affected by these scammers. Last February, a crypto-stalker managed to steal ethers from a group of unsuspecting users by posing as Musk, a situation that is nowadays regular, as the CEO of Tesla Motor has become a popular target for this type of phishing, a situation which has motivated the employer to take action on the matter.

In this sense, this scammer neutralizer would become the first blockchain-related project in which Musk is actively involved. However, it is not the first technological solution designed to eradicate this problem, since the applications are in the market MetaCert Protocol Cryptonite and Scam Clerk, which are in charge of identifying this type of cybernetic fraud.
